Uphagen House

Uphagen House in Gdańsk is a remarkable example of an 18th-century merchant’s townhouse, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the domestic life of the city’s wealthy bourgeoisie during the Enlightenment period. This meticulously restored residence is now configured as a museum, displaying period furniture, decor, and everyday household items, all arranged as they would have been in Johann Uphagen's time, who owned the house in the late 1700s. Each room, from the kitchen and bedrooms to the formal salons, is adorned with authentic artifacts that illustrate the lifestyle, customs, and fashions of the era. Special attention is given to the craftsmanship of the period, including woodwork, textiles, and ceramics. Uphagen House not only serves as a portal to the past but also educates visitors on the architectural and cultural history of Gdańsk. It’s a must-visit for history enthusiasts and those interested in the intricacies of historical home life.
