Villa della Regina
Villa della Regina, a splendid example of Baroque architecture, is one of Turin's most enchanting historical sites and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Originally built in the early 17th century as a royal vineyard and pleasure palace for Cardinal Maurizio of Savoy, it later became the residence of Queen Anne Marie d'Orléans, giving the villa its name. The villa boasts elegantly decorated rooms adorned with frescoes, stuccoes, and lavish furnishings, reflecting the opulence of its royal inhabitants. The surrounding gardens, designed in the Italian style, feature terraced vineyards, ornamental fountains, and statues, offering breathtaking views of Turin and the Po River. After years of meticulous restoration, Villa della Regina has been reopened to the public, allowing visitors to explore its grand halls, private chambers, and picturesque gardens. This hidden gem provides a serene escape from the bustling city, offering a glimpse into the regal past and architectural beauty of Turin's aristocratic heritage.
